Phi Phi Adventures
On this trip we aim to visit either the King Cruiser wreck or the Kled Gaeow wreck on the first stop of this trip, depending on conditions. The second and third stops are around the beautiful reefs of the Phi Phi Islands and are suitable for all levels of diving. Here you’ll find shallow reefs, dramatic walls and pinnacles and coral fields with more life than you can imagine. Diving Phi Phi Islands can be done all year around and is both varied and spectacular. The dive sites around Phi Phi Islands offer some of the best diving in Thailand.
The Kled Gaeow wreck is located to the east of Viking Bay off Koh Phi Phi Ley. It was originally a Norwegian fishing boat, built in 1948. In 1956 it was commissioned into the Royal Thai Navy. After many years of service, in 2014 it became an artificial reef. It is 47.2m long and 7.7m wide, and now has schools of puffer fish and fusiliers, along with many lionfish, scorpionfish and nudibranchs!
The King Cruiser wreck is a ferry that hit the submerged pinnacle of Anemone Reef in 1997 and sank (everyone was saved!).It is approximately 85m long, with the top of the wreck sitting at about 18m, resting on sand at about 32m. There is a permanent descent line in place. Unfortunately, over time parts of the wreck have collapsed, so it is not safe to penetrate.
Note that these two wrecks can only be dived if you hold an Advanced certification or above, and it is too deep for snorkelling. Though you can always combine this trip with an Advanced course or Adventure course! (Adventure diver upgrade +3800THB)
